My Top 3 Priorities

  • Strengthen the Economy by promoting policies that help businesses, such as lower taxes and reduced regulation.
  • Create jobs by reducing the barriers businees face that impede growth.
  • Reduce foreign threats by fully funding the military and securing the border.

Shepherd is running because he wants to bring a good-sense approach to law making. He wants to be part of the team that shrinks the size and scope of the federal government. Doug states “I want to be at the forefront of the movement to restore the basic values that are the bedrock of this country. God, family, community and service.”

“Dad taught me that what people call common sense doesn’t always make good sense. Just because something sounds good does not make it right. Most of the time the feel good promises of politicians just don’t make good sense in the real world.”

“It is time for a good sense approach to government,” Shepherd states. We need to make government bureaucracy smaller so each individual is  “bigger”. That means people are more powerful and have more liberty over their own lives. There is nothing more American then personal liberty. We need to cut taxes and put more money in people's pockets. More financial freedom means more control over their own lives. Let’s create jobs by strengthening American businesses, both big and small, through less regulation and reduced taxes. Strong American business means more security for the individual working person.”

I am ready to serve in Congress and be part of the solution, not more of the problem.”
