Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Matthew A. Baker:

Through Board meetings, and school personel. Facilitation of funds needs to be made in language that is inclusive for all.

Candidate Statement

It is with infinite passion and enthusiasm that I, Matthew Baker, will be running for a position in the Simi Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees. I have put two children through the SVUSD and I have had experience both great and not so great therefore my interest is to be an asset to the board and offer my ideas on progressive academics with new world applications, better safety for schools, and easier access for parental involvement.

I am a US Army Veteran who served six years overseas in Germany. I managed many bank branches including but not limited to Wells Fargo and Downey Savings. I am a proud business owner with a beautiful wife and two amazing teenagers. I volunteered as a coach for many years in the Junior Olympics beyond my children’s elementary school years as well as chaperoned many field trips and was involved in the classroom environment.

I have many friends and family who are teachers, administration, board and faculty members and I have grown to appreciate all aspects of the strong system that SVUSD has built over its many years and I would be more than honored to contribute to that system.

With  your VOTE we can make SVUSD reflect the greatness we all know SIMI VALLEY is.
