My Top 3 Priorities

  • Recruiting and retaining new qualified library staff
  • Providing enhanced programming and technology services to better serve Banning's diverse population
  • Exploring the means to augment the library's print and electronic resources, and to add additional facility space, both indoor and outdoor

I possess the following degrees and credentials, all earned from accredited California universities: B.A. and M.A. in English, M.L.S in Library and Information Scicnce, CA Standard Secondary Teaching Credential and CA Administrative Services Credential.  My employment history over the last 48 years as a librarian and an educator encompasses the following job titles: English Teacher and Library Media Teacher at several California high schools; Coordinator of Library Services at venues in California and in international schools in Saudi Arabia and South Korea; Public Library Branch Supervisor/Manager at branches of the Washoe County (NV) and Placer County (CA) Public Library Systems; and Reference Librarian at the Rancho Mirage Public Library.  I am currently still working part-time as a Reference Librarian in Rancho Mirage and have been employed there in this capacity since 2007.  I have been an active member of the Sun Lakes Library Committee and served 3 years as an officer of that committee.  I maintain membership in the the American Library Assoication, the California Library Association, The California Teachers Association, and the National Education Association.  In my 48 years as a professional librarian and as an educator, both in the USA and abroad, I believe I have the breadth of experience and knowledge that will be helpful in resolving some of the future challenges the Banning Library will face and in continuing the Banning Library's commitment to connecting people with information, ideas, and experiences to support an enriched and engaged community.
