Biography

  • I have served as the Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District director for Div. 5 since 2014. I serve with dedication and passion. My two top priorities are 1) To enhance the value of the communities within our district by providing new parks and quality improvements to our existing parks, and 2) to improve community health by providing opportunities for active recreation and enjoyment of nature. Some examples of how I have achieved this in my four years on the Park Board include:
  • Installation of new playground equipment at Clay Park in 2015
  • Formation of Jurupa Valley Motion Walking Club in 2015
  • Worked with JARPD Trails Committee to update community trails map, which was approved by JARPD in 2016 and adopted into City of Jurupa Valley"s general plan later that year.
  • Installation of new playground equipment at Veterans' Park in 2017.
  • Creation of Sky Park (near Flabob Airport) in 2017.
  • Installation of splash pad at Veterans' Park in September 2018
  • Worked with Huerta del Valle to establish community garden at Glen Avon Heritage Park from 2016 to present, garden open to public in September 2018.

Prior to my election onto the Park Board , I became and remain involved with  local organizations Healthy Jurupa Valley and Jurupa Valley Chamber of Commerce, and Riverside Road Runners, a running club serving Riverside and nearby cities. In years past I worked in journalism and public relations for about 30 years. I have lived in Jurupa Valley since 2006.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I am seeking a non-partisan office and am currently working with people of different political persuasions in my goals of adding value to our communities and increasing community health. However I do so.with a conservative political outlook.

In my next term this will lead to seeking partnerships with non-profit organizations and the business community to help.with the development, improvement and maintenance of our parks and in the increase of recreational programs. Although it is possible we will ask the voters of Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District to increase an annual maintenance assessment, which has been $15 since established more than 30 years ago, it is my intention to keep.this fee reasonable.
