My Top 3 Priorities

  • Transparency: Want to ensure that hard-earned tax dollars are well spent and ratepayers are well informed.
  • Quality: Everyone deserves safe & reliable water resources.
  • Conservation: Support of policies to help protect ratepayers against the next drought.

Experience

Biography

GRACIE TORRES is water chemist, water quality compliance planner, college professor, and mother of three. A proud product of Riverside schools, Gracie has dedicated her career to protecting and conserving our water resources as well as educating the next generation of scientists. She plans to use these skills to better serve our community.

As your representative on the Western Municipal Water District board, Gracie will work to ensure that we have a feasible, reliable, and safe water supply for our growing community. Gracie will work towards transparency and public outreach regarding water resources and budgeting. With 4 years working at Riverside County Flood Control, she has the experience of working with WMWD, other water agencies, and municipalities in helping them identify potential water quality concerns and solutions. We do not need more politicians but people who understand the issues at hand and how they affect our everyday life!

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Gracie plans on focusing on three major items during her time in office:

  1. TRANSPARENCY:

    • We need to hold our elected officials accountable for your hard earned dollars. We all work hard to pay the water bill and need to ensure that money goes where it will do the most good. Gracie will push for more transparency and show how ratepayer funds are spent.

  2. QUALITY:

    • Gracie is the only candidate who is actively in the field analyzing Riverside County’s water quality.  She will use her education, experience, and science to support programs and projects that aid in supplying the community with sustainable and clean water.

  3. CONSERVATION:

    • As we saw during the 2016 drought, California’s water storage infrastructure is dated and cannot serve our population in its current form. As you representative, Gracie will push for conservation initiatives and policies that save our resources so when we enter a time of need the bill is not passed down to you, the ratepayer.
