Inland Empire and Air Pollution

Important Environmental issues facing the Inland Empire.

Moreno Valley is plagued with unclean air.  Health experts have known for years that people living near major roads breathe higher levels of air pollution and face greater risk of asthma, heart disease, lung deficiencies and a variety of other ailments. The measurements of these pollutants provide compelling new evidence that local traffic pollution is adding to regional smog and threatening the health of more than 1 million Southern Californians who live within a few hundred feet of freeways such as our residents in Moreno Valley.  Exposure to air pollution causes premature death, hospitalizations and respiratory symptoms, limiting a person’s normal daily activity and increasing school absences and loss of work. We are breathing the dirtiest air in Southern Californian.    Residents living close to diesel trucks are breathing heavy pollution.  The solution is regulations, new technology and/or electric trucks.
