Jobs and unions

My beliefs about the importance of a strong workforce.

As a member of the 18th Assembly District Community First Slate one of my deep-held concerns is for labor and employment opportunities in our area.  Having said that, I support the creation of, not only jobs, but solid working-class union jobs that will help all citizens prosper in our economy.

I have observed the efficiency of Project Labor and Community Workforce Agreements in both city and school district building projects.  These types of agreements are meant to solve employment issues without disrupting work.  Projects that have occurred locally with these agreements have come in ahead of schedule and under budget.

Many of the local unions work in coordination with our school shop programs to give students an idea of how to enter a particular trade, and what other options are available.  Since working-class union labor is paid a living wage, the members are able to live in and enjoy the communities where they work
