Biografía

Corina Lopez is seeking re-election to the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee representing AD18 which she has served on since 2012.  Lopez also serves on the Executive Board of the California Democratic Party.  Lopez has the distinction of being the first person from the Latinx community to be elected to the San Leandro City Council which she has served on since 2014. Previously, she served as a Trustee for the San Leandro Unified School District.  She serves on the Boards for the National League of Cities, the California League of Cities, Hispanic Local Elected Officials, and League of California Cities Latino Caucus.  She is a lifetime member of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials and a contributing member of the Latino Community Foundation. 

Lopez grew up as a daughter of migrant farmworkers, and her upbringing and family background is one of labor activism and social justice.  She attended the Head Start program and public schools through high school.  She is the first in her immediate family to go to college attending Princeton University.  In her 30s, she returned to school and received a Certificate in Finance awarded with distinction from the University of California, Berkeley.  Her distinctions also include receiving Assemblymember Rob Bonta’s Equity Champion Award in 2017 for her work spearheading San Leandro’s Sanctuary City Resolution as well as the City of San Leandro Proclamation of Corina Lopez Day in 2013.

Lopez is a partner and small business owner co-founding a San Leandro based IT Management Consulting firm in its 11th year of business.  She has spoken at conferences and has lobbied before Congress in the field of technology as a leader in municipal broadband, Smart City solutions, and closing the digital divide.
