My Top 3 Priorities

  • FINANCIAL STABILITY is the core issue and the key to improving many other problems Palomar Health must operate on a fiscally prudent basis. Every expense line and program must make financial sense.
  • CARE PROVIDERS constitute our greatest resource. The system should strive to provide excellent health care with compassion, recognizing the dignity of each individual patient.
  • VISION. Health care delivery and technology is changing rapidly and will continue to do so. Our care system organization and structure will be and, likely, reshaped.

I am a cardiologist caring for patients at Palomar Medical Center for the past forty one years. In solo practice, I am a small businessman and understand any business must follow sound financial practices. My wife and I are actively involved in many community activities and are major donors to Palomar Health Foundation, the philanthropic affiliate of Palomar Health. I was extremely involved in fund raising and planning for our new hospital and again serve on the Foundation Board.

I am running for the Board because I passionately believe in Palomar Health, its Mission and its people. I know the history; I know the challenges in providing health care today and I am aware of potential changes facing delivery systems.

I have the utmost respect for our physicians and allied health care providers. They are the system’s greatest resource. Palomar Health must provide an environment that nurtures them and facilitates optimal performance. Palomar Health must adhere to sound fiscal principles and should actively seek biomedical and biotech partnerships that will allow us to continue to provide cutting edge care. This will help attract outstanding physicians and nurses as well as raise the level of care we can provide for our community.
