Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de The League of Women Voters North County San Diego (4)

What are the pressing problems of this school district, in your opinion, and what experience do you bring to the Board that will help address these problems?
Respuesta de D. J. Campe:

The simple answer is that the school has forgotten the middle-of-the-road students and below. We must improve the academic results of these students. The best way to accomplish this is to go to the teachers and classified staff and develop a TEAM plan to inspire the students that need the greatest help.

What is your view of charter schools?
Respuesta de D. J. Campe:

Charter schools take money away from the primary public school in the community. Therefore they do not promote the academic requirements of the middle to lower performing students.

Should the district curb its school choice initiatives (for students who are not in charter schools), so that more students stay in their neighborhood schools? Why or why not?
Respuesta de D. J. Campe:

Fallbrook at this time has slowed down the choices available and I feel that this is a solid policy.

Are there school discipline strategies or behavioral support programs that you find appealing alternatives to exclusionary or punitive discipline? If so, which ones, and why?
Respuesta de D. J. Campe:

I feel that in all conflicts, the very best way to solving them is through discussion and understanding of the human being across from you. We spend way too much time hating others and not enough time learning to appreciate and even love other human beings. There are many programs available that teach school leaders to conduct these resolution programs. They should be implimented to stop hatred and bullying.
