Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Restore Traffic Flow. The massive redesign of major traffic routes in the city is not working and is damaging business and traffic movement.
  • Control Homeless/drug Addict Issue. The health hazard to the population from these drug addicts invading our community has to be controlled. The County of San Diego is moving forward, but more is needed.
  • Diversity Tax Revenue Basis. The revolution of the internet is affecting brick and mortar businesses. The innovations in automobiles is changing the nature of that industry upon which the city depends for a third of its sales tax revenues..

Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de KPBS and the League of Women Voters San Diego (3)

Do you support increasing housing density in National City? What other options might there be for increasing the City's supply of affordable housing?
Respuesta de R. Mitchel Beauchamp:

The City is reaching carrying capacity, based upon available parking infrastructure, traffic and open space parks ratios.  The free market is the mechanism for housing availabiity.  Other cities must step up to the plate in this regard. No free lunch here!

Do you advocate any changes to National City's current policies regarding recreational and medical cannabis businesses? Please explain.
Respuesta de R. Mitchel Beauchamp:

It is too late to get on that band wagon.  The neighbooring cities have eliminiated any potential for this revenue stream to National City.  All we have in National City now is dealing with the stench, the drug addicts and the social chaos created by the legalization of this plant.

Do you believe that the National City Community & Police Relations Commission has adequate independence, authority, and resources to provide effective civilian review when there are allegations of officer misconduct? What changes, if any, do you think should be made?
Respuesta de R. Mitchel Beauchamp:

The Commission is impotent and should be dissolved.  The legal conditions under which police, through the Peace Officers Standards and Training, are where the changes need to be made.

Preguntas de KPBS (2)

Are you in favor of the National City residential rent control ordinance, Measure W, that is on the November 2018 ballot? Why or why not?
Respuesta de R. Mitchel Beauchamp:

No.   Such socialism has no place in our society.  It damages the lure of free market investment and the possibity to updgrade the City's old housing stock.  It damages the basis of property tax revenues to the City, needed to provde police and fire services.

Do you support any specific projects to promote economic activity in National City? If so, who are the proponents of these plans, and why do think that the City should invest time and resources in them?
Respuesta de R. Mitchel Beauchamp:

The castration of redevelopment has left us with less tools to achieve economic stimulation.   The role of the Chamber of Commerce and South County Economic Development Council needs to be enhanced in this regard.
